"Push", "tirar", "fusionar", "cometer" - el lenguaje de Git es misterioso y hace que sea difícil para las personas que intentan utilizar GitHub para sus proyectos. En este taller, vamos a quitarle el misterio mostrando la magia! Vamos a trabajar a través de los comandos básicos de Git y le mostraremos cómo se puede mejorar el flujo de trabajo diario. Todo el mundo tendrá la oportunidad de "comprometerse" a un proyecto de GitHub en la vida real. Incluso si no eres programador, te irás con una apreciación de cómo y por qué Git y GitHub podrían ser útiles para ti.

Resultado: La gente va a aprender por qué GitHub es una herramienta tan útil para colaborar en proyectos. Incluso si no son programadores o analistas de datos, van a reconocer el valor de este software y no tendrán tanto miedo de usarlo para sus proyectos futuros. Estoy trabajando en mi propio proyecto personal : “transparencia en las redacciones”, que tiene un repositorio GitHub, y daré la bienvenida a colaboradores en el Hackatón.

Requisitos: proyector para la computadora (mac), conexión a Internet, si la gente pudiera llevar sus propios ordenadores portátiles sería grandioso!

"Push", "pull", "merge", "commit" - the language of Git is mysterious and makes it hard for people who try to use GitHub for their projects. In this workshop, we will take away the mystery, and show you the magic! We will work through basic Git commands and show you how they can improve your everyday workflow. Everybody will have the chance to 'commit' to a real-life GitHub project. Even if you're not a programmer, you will leave with an appreciation of how and why Git and GitHub could be useful for you.

Time : Two hours

Skills expected: experience with the command line is preferable

Level Low

Outcome: People will learn why GitHub is such a useful tool for collaborating on projects. Even if they are not computer programmers or data analysts, they will recognize the value of this software and not be so scared of using it for their future projects. I am working on my own personal project re: transparency in newsrooms, which has a GitHub repo, and will welcome collaborators at the Hackathon.

Requirements: projector for computer (mac), internet connection, if people could bring their own laptops that would be great!
